My artistic focus is Encaustic painting and mixed media. I have been painting with both Encaustic and cold wax since 2016.
Statement
My work explores nature and landscapes, some real and some filtered through my imagination and dreams. I am fascinated by the play of light, color, and form, and space. My art is never purely decorative, but seeks to express deeper meanings.
Biography
Jan Hayden has made art all her life, exploring many types of media. For the past eight years she studied and worked in Encaustic painting and mixed media. She likes Encaustic painting for the scent, warmth and luminosity of wax. The element of chance which happens at times in making an Encaustic painting allows the artist and the artwork to collaborate in the outcome. The artist embraces the unexpected.
